Hiking -- Iron Mountain
Dear Tsinghua alumni and friends,
The San Diego Tsinghua Alumni Association cordially invites your for a hiking trip to the Iron Mountain. It is going be a great chance to exercise and meet up friends.
DATE & TIME : 10:00AM, June 27th, 2009.
CARPOOL: Carpooling is encouraged. For those who live near UTC and want to carpool, please gather at Crater & Barrel parking lot in the UTC Mall at 9:00am.
DIRECTIONS:
- From Places North (i.e. Escondido): Travel south on I-15: Take the Camino Del North Exit and turn left on Camino Del Norte. Right on Pomerado Road, Left on Scripps Poway Parkway, left on Highway 67 and travel North, and then, park on the shoulder of the road right at the Iron Mountain trailhead, a little bit South of Poway Road. The trailhead is on the righthand side of the road. No need to cross the street.
- From Places South (i.e. downtown San Diego): Travel North on I-15, take the Scripps Poway Parkway Exit, head East on Scripps Poway Parkway, then, turn left on Highway 67, then, travel North for about 1.6 miles. Park on the shoulder of the road right at the Iron Mountain trailhead, a little bit South of Poway Road. The trailhead is on the right-hand side of the road. No need to cross the street.
TRAILS: Trail head is located on Highway 67 and Poway Road.
- Distance: 6.63 miles round trip
- Elevation Gain: 1000 ft
- Hike Time: 4.5 hours
- Difficulty: Moderate
- Trail Condition: Well maintained trail
- HikeType: Out and Back.
NECESSITIES: Good grip trail shoes or boots, lunch and plenty of water, hat and sunscreen.

CANCELLATION: The hiking trip will automatically be cancelled in case of adverse weather conditions.
